The CE link is a module that allows the combination of 2 or more potentiostats in a single cell with shared counter electrode without galvanic isolation. The CE link is placed between the cell cable and the potentiostat.
Use of the CE link avoids the need for floating operation of one (or more) of the channels. This can lead to better measurements as it avoids the risk of high common mode voltages, allows both channels to be grounded to the same point which reduces noise, and better low current performance (not influenced by capacitive AC-coupling which is common in floating operation).
In the case of 2 connected potentiostats, the use of the CE link has several advantages over a conventional bipotentiostat, namely both channels can use their fully current compliance (up to maximum 5A), channels can be programmed independently (both in potentiostatic and galvanostatic mode), the channels with the CE link can use a grounded counter electrode, and each channel has its own RE and S connections.
Depending on the application, the CE link can either be used on one or all of the channels in the experimental set up.
